INCORRECT STATIC DNS ENTRIES AUTOMATICALLY BEING ADDED ??

Hi,

Running Mikrotik 6.15 and I am getting static DNS entries being automatically added that are incorrect. I have a PPPoE dialup and I get my dns from the ISP.

The problem is admin.google.com is going to the caching server of 69.233.125.74.in-addr.arpa which means I cannot open the page.

I am trying to force admin.google.com to go to 74.125.233.69 (with a static entry) as for some reason the router is adding a DNS entry (static that I cannot remove to 69.233.125.74.in-addr.arpa which is the google caching server). This is also the case with a specific location of an IMAP mail server that is also going to the wrong location.

The main problem is I cannot delete the system created static entries which are wrong.. See attached .jpg - The blue entries are incorrect and added automatically.

How are these static DNS entries getting to the router and why? I cannot get to admin.google.com and having IMAP mail problems as a result of this.

Any assistance or suggestions welcome.

  1. I do not understand why you add static DNS for real existing address

  2. I think you do not know what is PTR

  3. If you specify www.abcd.com = 1.2.3.4, logically 1.2.3.4 = www.abcd.com and 4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa PTR exist for this.
