Increase 3G signal

Hello Team,
I have installed a router mikrotik (RB951) in a remote location, without internet connection, so I used a datacard (with 3G chip) connected to USB port, but in that place is very poor 3G signal and the router is not connecting, there is any way to increase gain of 3G signal? Maybe a mikrotik antenna or router configuration?

Best regards,

Jef

I think you cannot change it to gain 3g to more sign, only a service provider can change in that location. Better to ask your service provider.

Thanks

Move your GSM device to better place … higher/outdoor/closer to window … you must try. It is like a phone.

Thank you I will try to move the datacard to another place.

3G dongles are very picky for location. You should try every possible location preferably higher. It is good if you have USB extension cord, that you can move it around freely and your router stays still.

It depends on the type of enclosure the modem resides within (e.g. residence/commercial/metal case)

If your 3G modem has an external antenna connector, you can purchase an external antenna and cabling to mount one outside for better reception.
There are also RF amplifiers available and they are capable of improving the signal within the enclosure.

So you have several options to improve signal strength.
