Hello, I’m new to Mikrotik and the RouterOS, but I have to admit that the enormous possibilities are a little bit overwhelming to me.
It should be my normal router and its behind a modemrouter without a firewall, so the RB should be the firewall and router.
What I want:
- fixed WAN, IP Gateway and DNS
- some IP Adress reservations
- firewall without any special wishes, no port releases or anything
- bandwidth control for a group (so a group of devices should have a special bandwidth, if one devices uses all of the bandwidth, the others shouldn’t have any bandwidth left)
- correct time
- change password
- everything else that makes it run smooth
What I did:
- Quick Set: IP Adress, Netmask, Gateway, DNS Severs. seems to be working.
- IP → DHCP Server → Leases → Add → Adress (IP) and MAC Adress. seems to be working.
- I don’t know how to do that.. I left everything on the default settings
- I tried doing that with Simple Queues, but it appears like I can just set a bandwidth limit for one device, that’s not what I want. When I enter IP Adress ranges, it tells me “invalid IP Adress”, so I don’t know how to solve that either.
- System → SNTP Client, I entered two german timeservers and it looks like it’s working pretty well, the time under System → Clock is correct.
- System → Password. seems to be working.
- Is there anything else that’s required, recommended? I feel like there are so many options and I need to change some basic things so it works well. I hope you know what I mean.
It would be great if anybody could help me with 3) 4) and 7).
