Install fails on Supermicro X7SBi-LN4

Hi there,

I’am having a hard time installing RouterOS 3.6 on a Supermicro X7SBi-LN4 Mainboard.
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon3000/3200/X7SBi-LN4.cfm

I want to install the RouterOS on a IDE-DOM, but the drive gets not recognized by netinstall. I tried to install the module in another machine and plug it back. It starts to boot the kernel but then hangs and complaining that there is no drive.

I tried a couple BIOS options (ACPI, SATA-Mode, Multiple Cores, ..) but no working result.

I tried also to use a USB-DOM, but this doesnt work either, installation went through, but the boot freezes at “Loading System”.

I’am quite sure that this a chipset related issues, but is there a realistic chance that this gets fixed in the very near future?

I would love to stay with this board.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It looks like intel is using a new harddrive controller that is not supported by the kernel that we use.

Hi,

what about USB-DOM, any chance here? I installed with Netinstall and the installer found a drive SATA 1 (which is the USB-DOM). But after re-boot, the screen says “Loading System” … and it hangs forever.

Is there a way to boot from a USB-DOM, I prefer them over IDE-DOM anyways.

Best Regards

Hi,

just a short update … after a long while I gave it a shot again and the 3.30 went through. I did no further testing, but installation went through and the system booted. Dunno anything how stable it will be.

Installation was done on a USB-DOM (transcend).

Best Regards.
