Install RouterOS manually

hi all

I’m a new member of the mikrotik community.
I use mikrotik hardware/software since one year.

My question:
I didn’t find any informations about install RouterOS on a embedded system manually (without netinstall or cd).
Is it possible?

I have an embedded system with openwrt and I want to test/install RouterOS on it.

Thanks all

Regards,
Mercury

You can try using an external storage device (USB or CF, MicroSD) if your openwrt installed router supports booting from any of them.

To install ROS on the storage device itself, you’ll need netinstall; then you can plug it to the embedded system.

Which device are we talking about?

Hi Mercury,

Ofcourse you can. Look at this page http://www.mikrotik.com/download. you can download the RouterOS package based on your system.

May i know what kind of machine do you want to install?

Hi

Thanks for your posts.

My machine is a “Rutenbeck AC WLAN UAE PoE Up” http://www.rutenbeck.de/produkte/c/wlan-accesspoint-ac-wlan.html
This device has no external port like usb or a CF slot.

On the MikroTik download Page I only find npk files to use with netinstall.

cpuinfo.txt
dmesg.txt

RouterOS can’t be installed on this device.

RouterOS can only work on x86 CPU devices, or RouterBOARD brand devices, made by MikroTik.

Is it a hardware/software problem like “the chip is not supported by RouterOS” or is it a management problem like “MikroTik won’t answer question about problems on unsupported hardware”?
