installation issue

Hi all, I’m trying to install routerOS but after it says:

Press [Y] to continue or [N] to abort the installation.

Do you want to keep old configuration? [y/n]: …yes

Warning: all data on the disk will be erased!

Continue? [y/n] …yes

…then it stops, I can’t go on,
why?

thanks in advance

What version of ROS?
What hardware?

sorry but what is ROS?
I dont know much about installed hardware but I think it is a asus mainboard with ide hard disk.
I had installed debian before without any problem.

..but I also tryed to install MT on another pc I bought last year. Are there specific hardware needs?

ROS is 3.22, the last stable one

i have the same problem

amd32bit sata hdd
2 gig ram

ros 3.22

but i had mikrotik loaded onto this pc before loaded version 2.9 wheni loaded it but i believe its got to do with the sata support with the motherboard as the only thing thats diffrent on the same pc is that the hdd is sata and ide im just waiting for a ide hdd to make shore but ill keep you informed if i find something

If you are using SATA drives connected to a controller interface on the motherboard, then check your motherboard BIOS settings. There maybe a reference on changing the type of SATA interface presented to the OS, sometimes called ‘legacy mode’ or ‘IDE / SATA / AHCI’ mode. Select legacy or IDE mode and not SATA or AHCI mode.

me too!.. i have the same same problem in a IDE Hard Drive and a Compact Flash, installing RouterOS 3.22
In boths, the RouterOS was installed before; and the same hardware!!
then try format the disk in low level but this don’t get any result..

somebody can help us? :frowning:

I suspect Mikrotik have changed something with the way they low level format. I am having problems with formatting a vmware virtual disk using v3.22. v3.20 is fine - never had any problems building virtual Mikrotik PCs before v3.22, not it just hangs when it should be formatting the partition.
I have already raised a support ticket about this.

Has anyone solved this I have the same issue, 80GB sata II drive any computer I put it on I’ve tried another sata drive as well.

OK, I created an ISO from 3.13 and it’s working now, 3.22 definately has an issue.

It could be the CD install’s fault, try either other install method, or v3.13 and then upgrade

I’m having the same issue…

I tried 3.13 worked great, but the system wouldn’t boot after I upgraded to 3.22

Used Magic ISO to edit the 3.13 iso and add every file from the3.22 iso exept the isolinux dir.

installed and worked on the test machine but not the one i want it to work on stops at loading system with initrd.

So probelm #1 fixed, on to part 2

Same problem here.
I have a new server that I’m trying to install on.
Pentium E2200 dual core
2 Gig Ram
SATA hard drive

I don’t have the bios option for “legacy” mode on the hard drive.

ros 3.13 loads fine from cd
ros 3.22 hangs with flashing “caps lock” and “scroll lock”

Any word from MT??

I have the same problem too. (x86 installation)
I use a SATA Disk on Module (DOM) , I am forced to use ROS ver 3.13 ,
it is impossible to upgrade to a newer ROS version and try any wireless test package
When i try to install/upgrade anything > 3.13 using netinstall , the system says : " No hard disk found " and stops
I feel that sata/ahci is missing from ROS ver 3.14 and up

PLS do something about it.

If you want, you can always boot from a USB thumb drive or USB DOM (internal headder connection)

Use netinstall to install ROS on the USB drive..

The format the internal SATA drive and use it for proxy, ect…

Works for me on a Proliant M310 G5. Yum !!!

Ty for your proposition,

BUT

if the router (x86 -mini-itx box ) is almost on top of very high tower , it is not so easy to go -climb -put a usb and do all
the appropriate actions . In my humble opinion ,
i believe that from a commercial router software , the user must have always the ability to upgrade without problems , For months the software upgrade is impossible for me , and as i mentioned before , the router is not in a place with convenient access .
I believe as i wrote to my previous post , that sata/ahci support “disappeared” from router os 3.14 and up
I reported the problem to mikrotik support and they told me that the problem is specific to my hardware
As you can see from this thread the problem exists with other configurations also

I hope this time that mikrotik support will see the problem more thoroughly

Thank you in advance for any assistance

What's new in 3.23:
*) fixed installation on fresh disks or VMs;

Hopefully it has been fixed.
