installation of ros 6 from usb to hdd

hey guys,

here is the problem. i have a pc and i have a pen drive. i have the netinstall.zip and routeros612.iso

how do i copy or boot from the pen drive and then install the os onto the hard drive? i’ve been trying for a while by making bootable pen drives but in the end, it installs itself on the pen drive and not on the hard drive.

i need help. suggestions and links would be greatly appreciated.

You don’t need the ISO

Netinstall can create a bootable USB drive with the setup files. Run Netinstall, choose the USB drive as your target, then choose RouterOS NPK files of the desired version, and click Install.

Once you boot from that USB, installation tool will start.

Or if you are familiar with the “dd” command line tool, you can use our install image http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.12/install-image-6.12.zip

It’s installing on the usb drive instead of the hard drive. Doors the drive work in ahci mode? Or will it have to be in legacy?

was finally able to install it with a CD.
Sadly it’s only recognising 2gb ram and I’ve got 4gb installed.
I suppose it’s the limitation

It is not 64 bit. Therefore ram limitation.

does this support ahci ?

ahci is unsupported, must be on IDE mode.

install ESXi or other VM software on device, then install RouterOS CHR, is more easy for add driver support…
