RouterOS is an operating system in its own right. You can run in on a virtualised PC, but not on top of an existing OS. When I’ve done this in the past I’ve just set up the vitrual system, with no OS, mounted the ISO and booted the PC from the mounted ISO file and it’s installed itself in a breeze…

You can run RouterOS as a QUEMU image. I use to do it regularly in the past, it’s nothing special. You install the RouterOS image, and then you could just run it. The sweet thing is that you could run this QUEMU image in GNS3 for example, where you can make interconnections with other images. It’s great! I’ve done this in Ubuntu, it shouldn’t be that different in CentOS…
