thats a southbridge not a platform. You said it has Intel P3. What package do you think you need?

So, I need a help and answer the quetion. Not a quetion for quetion. What does your answer mean? Intel/AMD means proccessor type or chipsets based on motherboard?
You are making things too complicated. Pentium 3 = PC (X86)
its not a stupid question. why are there two different choices that lead to the same platforms packages. that sounds like it’s overcomplicated to me.

Both of those choices take you to the same place.
exactly because of questions like these. if there would be only PC, somebody will ask - “But I have a wrap board and it’s not a PC”! If it would only say X86, they will ask “what’s that, I need packages for PC?”
Believe me, we used to get loads of those emails.
Of course, both of the choices you showed, link to the same files.
Ok. Now everything is clear.
I think you have to describe what Intel/AMD and Other x86 means.
If is it chipsets based or CPU’s types or other things.
I have VIA EPIA-V motherboard with VIA CPU. What kind of RouterOS I need to get? I don’t understand. VIA- is not Intel/AMD, on-board CPU - is not Intel/AMD too.
Why I have to experiment with installing RouterOS, Licensing and money?
So, We have tried to installed both version before I posted. As a beginner user of RouterOS (only 20 routerboards we are bought and first time get a PC-license) I have found no differs at work at start but I don’t know if any problem (for example, drivers compability, CPU’s optimization or other) will be appeared in the future because of wrong type of RouterOS as a choice of now.
“PC” - is a very abstract term.
It is my own opinion. I think so.
VIA is X86
I too had this very same question and I’ve been into computers for a very very long time. If novices and experts alike are asking same question (diff btw. intel/amd/x86/other), it’s safe to assume this should be standard knowledge for those downloading this type of software. For those (very few) who might have trouble with Intel/AMD/x86, here might be a solution:
What about a single menu item called: “Intel/AMD/Other (x86)”. Works with any x86 system type plus Intel/AMD and any Other x86 system that may exist.
I haven’t seen any differences on other sites for Intel/AMD/Other x86 architectures, and to my knowledge, people seem to find there way to download and install ok.
Anyway, just my two cents. This did confuse me at first. I do think it’s more confusing having two separate menu items linking to the same software packages.
the OP would still ask his question, as he has a VIA cpu that’s not listed. see the original question
… or make it one line “x86 and all x86 clones”
The fact that there are two different lines is confusing some.
Tom
Noticed the consolidation now in one entry called “PC / x86” on the download page.
