Intel E823-I and CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM

Hi guys!

I naively bought without checking any manuals a SuperMicro board with an intel e823-l SFP+ NIC.
Since I never had any problem in the past, I assumed it would just be plug and play.

Unfortunately even after installing the Windows Server 2025 NIC drivers, the NIC still shows that no cable is attached.

For the cable I use a XS+DA0001 that is connected to a CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM running SwOS 2.17.

Is there anything I need to change to get this working? Is it even possible?
Thanks for your help!

Ok, that is a little bit embarrassing, but I found the issue.

SFP+2 was originally intended as WAN, but then the new Firewall already had dual SFP+, so we never used it.
You know these plastic covers? The ones I made fun of for year because “no way in hell they prevent a port from collecting too much dust. Too much dust on SFP+ isn’t a thing”.
Well, turns out I was wrong. Switched to SFP4 and it instantly light up

TIL: Plastic covers indeed have a function.
