Intel X520 Series Network Adapters

Hi All,

Has anyone had success using an Intel 10Gbps X520 Series fibre network card on RouterOS 5.24? And getting the full 10Gbps?

Thanks!!

please upgrade RouterOS to v6.10 and try again.

Thanks uldis.

I dont have a problem on 5.24. I need to know IF it will work on that version before I purchase the card as it is very expensive.

Can you confirm if that card is working on 6.10?

Hopefully this saves you some money

They are not that expensive if you buy them from Dell as spare parts. Just make sure you get the right version e.g. Full Height or Low Profile as the OEM versions only come with one bracket.

But I need to use the Intel X520 Series - not Dell. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/network-adapters/converged-network-adapters/ethernet-x520.html

I can ultimately use 6.10 but then I will have to upgrade all my routers (not an option)

I have an existing / running HP DL 180 server will a free full height slot and I know that the X520 series card is compatible with that server. I am running RouterOS 5.24 happily and would like to add the card to get me to 10Gbps. I feel like a caveman running 100Mbps RJ45.

Hi JamesBitCo,

Dell sell the OEM Intel X520 NIC’s, we have purchased around 80 of them through Dell and are using them in Dell, SuperMicro, HP and Sun servers.

You can also get them for a reasonable price from HotLava System who also custom make 4 and 8 port versions using the same chipset.

Thanks nz_monkey

That is a big help! I will look into that. Hope they deliver to South Africa!

And have you got it working on RouterOS 5.24?

I have never tried on a release that old.

They work fine on 6.x

We only have a handful running with RouterOS 6, the rest are on Linux machines.

working intel x520 in mikrotik v6? yes or no?
