Intel Xeon 4 core showing as 8 CPU

Hi, we are using a new IBM Xserver with a Quad Core Intel Xeon and it shows in Mikrotik as 8 CPU, we just want to know if this is normal and wont affect the performance.

you have HyperThreading enabled. disable it (in BIOS Setup) to get performance gain

Thanks Chupaka, so you get better performance with Hyper Threading Off? I would never thought that.

yep, MT officially recommends to turn off HT: without it CPU doesn’t need to switch context between virtual CPUs or something. HT is valuable in general applications and is useless in routing, when huge amount of data is used
