HI all,
I have a slight problem; we are a ISP which uses the national data-carrier infrastructure to connect clients in different town, or at least that is what we want to achieve. Anyway, using their fibre network, the idea is to map the clients from their location to our base station via VLANs. We recently tested one of these connects using MikrotikOS comps and the connection and management of that connection has been good. The beauty about using MikrotikOS is that since it has VLAN capabilities, we don’t have to buy public ips for each connection. Now my problem arises when the client requests to use their own equipment e.g. dlink wireless router. Since they do not have the same capability am assuming we have no choice but to buy a pair of ips, one for their equipment and one for our MikrotikOS. With the correct mapping and routing, the connection should not have a problem. My question is, do I need to know every customers LAN ip addresses so that I can add them to the queue or is their a way I can use their one public ip to manage their bandwidth?
