Inter-VLAN routing RB750GL on switch level?

Hallo MikroTik users :wink:

I have the RB750GL model, and i’m happy with all the nice features!

But i have two questions.

  1. Can i make Inter-Vlan routing on switch level, like a Layer 3 switch? I experience “poor” performence on my Inter-Vlan routing, because all the trafic have to pass my CPU, speed 200-300 Mbps is max on my gigabit ports when routing. (I know routing is hard task)

  2. When i make routing from one Vlan to another, with the max speed for 200-300 Mbps, my CPU goes on 100%, and the SSH connection to the router becomes slow and buggy, is this normal?

Are I missing something?

AFAIK it is not possible, only VLAN switching and some sort of ACL is possible in hardware: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Switch_Chip_Features

I will buy a Cisco layer 3 switch to support this then, and use my Mikrotik for edge device. Thansk again. :smiley:
