Interesting wireless links

Wireless installations are not just about providing villages with internet access, or making your tower-tower backbone links, sometimes regular 802.11 wireless technology and MikroTik RouterBOARD are used for more interesting installations. For example as you remember, NASA sponsored a project for underwater education studies and used RouterBOARD for communications, and just this weekend I noticed that the only cablecar in the Baltic states uses RouterBOARD wireless links to ensure communications with the Tower. Maybe you also have interesting projects to show?

yes,

we build a ring around the whole harbour area with 6x433 boards (all with 3xr52) .. configured as hmm… ring in / ring out and one for access… as a redundant backbone.

the light positions (ship, dock … exacly 10 positions) were configured with 433 with 2xr52…

the event was the launching of aida-diva in hamburg harbour ( 45 minutes of 240 heartbeat)

that was the first event we tried MA-Net … in a mixed enviroment of lwl and wireless…

lol… was a bit more than konverting dmx to ethernet

Hi,

We recently completed a project where a local hospital wanted to broadcast the church service on their internal TV system.

We installed high quality analogue camera’s in the local church and then encoded the video and audio (priest’s lapel microphone) to IP. The Camera’s were also being used to provide security in the Church.

We then installed a Mikrotik P2P link on the church to the hospital and then decoded the feed to analogue and fed this into a UHF channnalizer and now the patients in the hospital can watch the Mass service at the local cathedral ! The church is a protected building and you can see that the Mikrotik radio had to be camouflaged with grey spray paint !

The quality of the video and audio on the hospital TV system was excellent.

In 2006 we did Golf competition of Asian Games in Qatar.

We used 532 boards with XR5 of BT.

Each time a player hit the ball, we were counting it with hand computers and the data arrived to the main point and sended via PTP to multiple TVs. The data was shown in real time around the world.

Easy project now but in 2006 was hard! ; )))
