Hi, I am hoping somebody will be able to assist me.
I am currently rolling upgrades to all devices however I have run into a problem where “Management” indicates it is running at between 95 & 100% constantly. {Refer to attached image]
I have already tried:
Disabling “The Dude” on supported devices.
Disabling SNMP v3.
I am unable to perform a Supout.rif as it times out.
Rebooting remotely is not possible as it too times out.
Currently I have observed this issue happening on RouterOS v6.39.1, v6.39.2, v6.40.1, on various lower end Mikrotik Devices. (RB951Ui, RB750Gr2, RB750Gr3)
The only way around it is to get the client to manually reboot the device after which I can login remotely and upgrade the firmware. I am looking for a way that I can force a reboot remotely, as I do most of the upgrades outside of work hours.
I currently have 3 routerboards that I have specifically not rebooted that are currently experiencing the issue, so if there is any other way I can gather more information please let me know.
After much struggling with this issue I approached Trevor Damster, a Mikrotik Trainer in South Africa regarding this issue. He logged in a scratched around a little and managed to get the unit to reboot. The solution is rather quite simple.
Enable ping watchdog and point to an IP address that is unreachable, after which the device will reboot fail to ping the device and automatically reboot in the specified time.
Remember to disable the Watchdog rule again once you have regained access, otherwise every 5 min the device will reboot.
/system watchdog
set no-ping-delay=15m watch-address=10.100.1.1 watchdog-timer=yes
The most likely cause is that the despite the RouterOS being up to date, the routerboard firmware itself had not been upgraded.
/system routerboard upgrade
6 Routerboards were effected. (All were RB750Gr2 & Gr3. RouterOS v6.40-6.40.3, Firmware v3.34-3.35)
Firmware upgraded to 6.41, and systems have been running for 2 weeks so far without freezing up.
I would highly recommend Trevor as he helped me to achieve 94% in my CDNA exam!!! Good luck to everyone planning to get certified
