interface graph scale

My interface graph shows the usage Pegged at 1500.00 Kb quite often. I have a one and a half Meg connection with my ISP.

The question: When I go to a 10 Meg connection, will my interface graph show the 10 Meg or could the 1500.00 Kb be a limit of the interface?

AFAIK, the graphs adjust dynamically depending on the amount of traffic.
