Interface "unknown"

Hello everybody i have MT 2.9.27 the 2 interfaces were working fine and their status were link ok and auto negotiation done yesterday i realise that the 2 interfaces’s status transformed to “unknown” and the auto negotiation “incomplete” and when i set arp enabled i can’t get the client’s ips and mac address automaticly added i have to add them manually. but the 2 interfaces are working fine with internet there is no internet cut. any command to flash these interfaces or something to refresh the status ? cz i don wanna restart my MT and i do enable disable but without success.

best regards

We need a little more info - is this a PC based system or a Routerboard? (If routerboard - which one?)

Typically when an interface goes incomplete (ethernet) there is a cable/switch/or hub issue. I would change the cables first (easiest). If that doesn’t work, go in to the router, interfaces, try turning autoneg off (un-check the box), also disable 100mbps and disable full-duplex - see if any of these bring the interfaces back online… If they do then there is your clue as to what is wrong…it could also be the interface in your router as well so if none of the above work you’ll have to look at the physical ethernet card/interface and possibly replace it/them if possible…

thank you for reply, actualy i have an intel pc with 1 gb ram and 80 gbs HDD with mikrotik 2.9.27 i tried all what u said without any success cz the 2 interfaces in differents switches are set to unknown. i think the best solution is to restart MT maybe cz it’s been 50 days on. or there is any help before i reboot.

and i have 1 more question: in MT 3.6 in web proxy\access i added this rule to deny “www.msn.com” but without any success too.
rule: add path=/www.msn.com action deny
but it didn’t work can u help me in this plz cz there is no examples yet in the manual for the new mikrotik web proxy.
best regards

regarding your interface I would do a reboot. Pc’s are Pc’s and sometimes the most stupid problems disappear with a simple reboot to never come back.

re. your webproxy. Is the proxy itself running normally? i.e. is traffic redirected to it in the firewall/nat?

you should upgrade to 2.9.41 or 3.6 - it’s free
