Interim Accounting packets with FreeRadius and PPPoE

PowerRouter running v6.22
650+ PPPoE clients/connections
FreeRadius

Everything works great except that the Mikrotik does not appear to be sending Interim Accounting Packets.
I’m having trouble getting radius accounting working, it doesn’t appear that the Mikrotik is sending interim accounting packets. When I torch looking for por 1812 I can see the authentication packets but when I torch looking for port 1813 (Accounting packets) I don’t see a single packet. It seems that if they Mikrotik PPPoE server was sending the packets I should be able to see them being sent. I even tried having the radius server send the “Acct-Interim-Interval” attribute (set to 60 seconds) but the results are the same, no Interim accounting packets.

Thanks in advance for any help.

In winbox go PPP > Secrets > PPP authentication &accounting and enable interim-update

I have scoured the web, freeradius manual, and mikrotik manuals for weeks looking for how to enable/disable interim packets on router OS. For weeks I went back and forth with our accounting software’s tech support and even consulted with a supposed Mikrotik guru on how to make a mikrotik send interim packets !

Thanks ! This was the answer. You are awesome !

I need to learn what radius is
