I see on one of my PPPoE servers, which is a 750up running v5.22 is having some of its PPPoE clients random disconnect.
The strange thing that I am seeing in the logs is;
pppoe-0 waiting for call
pppoe-0 authenticated
pppoe-0 connected.
I dont under stand where these pppoe-0 connections are coming from, as all my customers that connnect, connect as pppoe-customer name@myisp.com
Upon further investigations, I can see that ether2, the port I have the PPPoE server running on is seeing 3-5Mb of constant traffic, even though none of the customers are doing anything. It is like a storm or something.
Running torch on that ethernet only shows me one ipv6 address generating the traffic, but I do not know how to progress further.
This has about 12 sectors tunnelled to it (Mix of EoIp and vlans) , the bridge that terminates the tunnel filters and drops all traffic that is not PPPoE traffic
PPPoE auth is via radius
This system has run smoothly for a couple of months on 5.21
Last night I upgraded to 5.22 and all the PPPoE sessions came back up but then proceeded to all drop every 10 to 20 Minutes
Downgrading back to 5.21 restored normal, stable operation
