Internet sharing question

Hello,

I would like my RB433AH unit to receive an IP from my ISP that requires automatic DHCP discovery turned on (dynamic IP) on Eth1 and supply my 5 clients behind an 8 port switch with a local IP (Range 192.168.0.1/24) on Eth2.

Where do I start? I tried this excellent tutorial here, http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Internet_Sharing, but that does not work with my configuration described above.

*Update
Added DHCP client to Ethernet 1 via “IP->DHCP client” via Winbox and that works great, I get an IP and everything is auto detected with the default settings. I can’t seem to get the Internet sharing to work though, can any of you see what I’m doing wrong? Why is the DHCP server data displayed in red? Any client that I connect to Eth2 will not get an IP from the device (Using auto discover DHCP settings within WinXP), the client just says “IP: 168.254.231.130 Netmask: 255.255.255.0” after a while.

Greetings!

A couple things could be causing problems:

Do you have the IP 192.168.0.1/24 assigned to ether2?
/ip address add address=192.168.0.1/24 interface=ether2

Is DNS set up?

I set up those before the dhcp server. Then, when you enter the dhcp server interface, the defaults are all correct.

Thanks! I followed your advice and assigned Ethert2 with an IP adress via the terminal, blowing like a whistle now! Over 800 threads via uTorrent 2.4MB/s DL and 1.5MB/s UL with only 30% cpu load, this is amazing!
