Intregrating Anti Virus

Is there any Planning to Intregreate ANTI Virus with Routes OS,

no, why? network viruses can be blocked by port, and user viruses can only be stopped with antivirus on their computers. there is absolutely no need for an antivirus on a router.

Than how to make Router OS as a perfact Firewall, like PIX, Juniper ISG100.

I don’t see that it has a antivirus, plus ir “only” costs 15000$

ashish what you are looking for is a Unified Threat Management platform, not a firewall.

Firewall’s block or allow packets based on a security policy.
Proxy Firewalls forward pakcets based on their RFC compliance and a security policy.
UTM’s provide network Firewall, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and Intrusion prevention functions based on a security policy.

I would suggest you look at FortiGate UTM’s since they are the market leader, and if you need any assistance PM me I have done hundreds of deployments of them.

Just Bought Juniper ISG1000 , and you are right normis.. Costing…WoW

I work with both Juniper ISG/SSG and Fortinet and I would definately pick the Fortinet products over the ISG for a UTM box.

For a router, I would go with the excellent Mikrotik RouterOS or Juniper J-Series.

What is a good antivirus to install on my computer? Is it a stupid question to ask if there is a free antivirus service available or where I could obtain avast code? Thank you for any help!

I have F-Secure antivirus based on personal computer, such as the question of whether the router put Chain = virus, whether it takes viruses off?
I pretty much had I put them somewhere on wiki tutorial and now throws packet field

Very small SOHO firewall/router Linksys RV042 has option, that integrated to Trendmicro. Trendmicro not really gateway antivirus, but it checks e-mail contains virus, spam, spyware etc… Also it blocks bad web URL from their black list of database.
If MT will cooperate with Trendmicro, it will be not bad beginning for the gateway antivirus solution (I guess so).

It can NOT check your email if you use https or ssl connection… which many people are doing now.

A URL blacklist is mostly useless… it’s just too easy to make new url’s.

Basically, antivirus on a router is less than useless… and a resource hog! You need it on your computer, not the router.

I`m agree with you that this kind of process will be eat huge CPU (but depending on traffic load). But gateway antivirus is useful

it is not an usefulness issue, it is about marketing.
customers demands that option if they want to buy a firewall router, regardless of its use..

Yes, I`m agree. Therefor the feature must be able to purchase and apply additional account for antivirus function.

Dear MT team please don’t waste your time to integrating this nonsense, better improve NV2.
best regards:)

lolzzz… so funny guy. If you dont need it, just pass over this topic. I never use NV2, i dont need it. But I never posted funny like you. kk

AV in a router is pointless - if someone wanted to bypass network AV they could just encrypt the data or session. This is just the first and most obvious reason - there are plenty more.

Not if this router is storing files.
Oh wait… a router?

FW Rule…output : dest port 16470 : drop.

Caught 120 B 3 packets.

So this seems to indicate that traffic destined to some arbitrary ip and port 16470 is originating from a routerboard.

ZeroAccess uses this

Am I wrong?

Do you have Proxy or any NAT redirect rules ?
