USB HUAWEI hsdpa stick is in use.
After powerloss, USB port has ‘invalid’ state, a new usb port appears (USB2) and a new PPP client connection.
new PPP connection uses USB2 port and is disabled.
when i configure the new connection and simulate another powerloss, the same thing happens. Another USB port is created ‘USB3’, another PPP connection is created that uses the new usb port (PPP3) and since the apn, username and password is not in this connection and now i have two USB ports that have ‘invalid’ state.
i have contacted support regarding this bud received no help. The only answer was: see? it’s working.
nothing about invalid usb ports was mentioned even when asked again.
New thing that happens is that rb433 reboots constantly when USB stick is inserted on powerup. if i insert the usb stick when the device is already runing, the device starts rebooting for a few times and when it finaly boots up, the USB prots problem is here again.
I have tryed 3.28 and beta 4… the same thing.
Does anyone have the same problem and have came up with a sollution of any kind?
are you providing enough power for the board and all peripherals, including quite a bit of power for the usb device? I know usb max is supposed to be 500ma, but some of those draw more and might need additional power.
It rebooted when i used non original power supply so that could be it…
but my bigger problem is with USB ports…
is that a bug in RouterOS or bug on this particular board model or bug in my board?
Support guy saw that there is one enabled PPP interface which uses one active USB port and said that it’s all ok. but still, when i simulate powerloss, all hell breaks loose. At one point i had 27 invalid usb ports and 27 ppp interfaces and each interface was set up to use its particular usb port…
but only the interface i created was configured properly but its usb port is now invalid.
Now when i need it, i can’t replicate the problem… for no apperant reason.
All this would not suprize me but i made it work on the first attempt and now this.
Have just tryed a reset-configuration and start all over again and now it stops on initializing modem…
so i will not bother with the usb stick anymore. price of the ericsson module here is 100$ if bought one peace at the time so i consider this a very good price since it is not locked to a single provider.
Could you please give some more detail as to how you got the Ericsson card to work?
I also have the Ericsson F3507g, on a MikroTik 411U with RouterOS 3.28.
If I change the settings to reflect your tweaks (Data & Info Channel to 3, and Modem Init String), the card still does nothing. I will really appreciate your help!
Have put that particular configuration to live testing.
Just bougth 6 more (Routerboards and modems) and will setup them tomorrow.
If everything works fine (at first attempt), i will backup the configuration and post it here so you can analyze what i did.
Apparently, .backup extension is not allowed, so just rename the file to .backup.
I left all the scripts.
Find the script ScrSettings, enter there your change ip account if you use it, please, change ‘to’ address to something yours (i am to lazy to change it, and i just realized that it’s still mine)
There is a condition thet depending on connection APN, mail server and domain change so that when I restore the configuration the only thing i have to change is change ip domain and apn if other provider is used
PPP interface has comment with all init strings i found. The one used works fine so i haven’t even tryed the rest but left them so i have them if problems occour.
Thanks for the trouble. I did a restore of the backup, only to find that I no longer know the password. Can you please tell me what the admin password is for the backup?
I you would rather not tell, can you upload another backup that has a blank password or “admin” as password…
Thanks, Cloe Sullivan is extremely grateful! Although she agrees on the PM comment…
I might have some questions about the scripts, as it is some hard-core stuff you’re doing. For instance, where do I change my APN name, username and Password? You have multiple APN setups, and I see global variables for APN names, but I cannot seem to find the place where I can make the changes. In my case it is simple, I only want connectivity and on either of the local operators the following settings work perfectly:
Sorry for the long delay.
The image is attached (winbox example)
EDIT:
I just realized what you are asking.
The multiple apn setup here is meant to cut the work on changing scripts when i have to change my GSM provider. The APN itself you have to enter manualy in the PPP connection. The script reads which APN is in use and then changes mail server so the scripts can send mail.
Havent figuret out how to read the owner (provider) of the gsm card (if it can be done at all?). If i figure THAT out, my device will be wwan ap for dummys (just insert card and it will work)
