Hey All,
I installed 4 amcrest Ip cameras and now my 250 down speed is hovering around 95 down.
The cameras connect to a gigabit poe switch and
then to the router and
then out of the router through a LT2P Ipsec vpn with about 15 mb in bandwidth to their NVR on a different subnet/location
Routers are RB951G’s
I also saw odd ping spikes on the network when I first installed the cameras BUT the NVR wasnt connected to them.
Oddly setting the cameras to Static Ip’s on the device end fixed that,
till I connected to the NVR and i had slow internet and ping speed issues at both locations between local devices.
pings between subnets over the vpn are 35ms to a sudden 250+ms and then back to normal.
Currently I have the pings at 1ms for lan devices on the same subnet, except pings to the router or to the other subnet over vpn are still spiking
Anyone experienced this with ip cameras and networks?
I thought maybe I was overloading the network
but cpu isnt maxing out(spikes to 60% but never 100%)
and I assumed a 15mb vpn getting saturated wouldnt cause a 160mb drop in bandwidth.
P.s. I believe the fix for the lan pings between devices was possibly due to adjustments I made on the cameras themselves but I can’t be for certain since the timing was random when they started functioning.
P.S. P.S. im a noob at networking.
