I am fairly new to routeros and am trying to get some things set up for my home network. I have a dynamic public ip address from spectrum and I am trying to set up the mikrotik ip ddns cloud so I can access my router and not have to worry about the ip address changing. When I activate the ddns it shows it associated with the correct ip address. I can log into the system using the public ip address, but I cannot access it using the ddns. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. Help would be appreciated.
If the cloud DNS is associated with the correct Public IP i don’t see any reason as to why you can’t login…
When you Ping the cloud DNS does it resolve to the correct Public IP address ?
If the IP is resolved correctly there shouldn’t be any difference.
From a security perspective however one never wants to give access to the router other then VPN on the WAN.
Are you attempting to access LAN devices (servers behind your router)?
Are you attempting to reach the router directly for configuration purposes?
If the answer to 2. is YES.
a. are you using VPN to connect to the router
b. are you using port knocking to connect to the router.
As stated anything else is like opening a door to hackers and bots to infect your systems.
Please post your config for assistance.
/export hide-sensitive file=anynameyouwish
Check out winbox remote for another way to access the router for config purposes, Seems okay for home use anyway, just convenient. I use wireguard myself.
Will they make a cloud service on Mikrotik?
How is it done on kenetic. With the possibility of remote access with a gray IP to Mikrotik for NAT.
sorry for my English
