ip cloud...

Hi,

i notice the ip cloud is based on the routerboard serial number.
how possible i can change the new routerboard serial number same as replaced unit in order to maintenance same ip cloud id ???

Obviously is not possible change serial number, for that is also impossible to change IP cloud.

IP cloud is not made for the public, only for occasional “DNS” users and administators.

If you need fixed DNS name, register it yourslef and use the scripts for upgrade the IP

What many users have recommended is to set up a CNAME record to point a domain you know to the domain IP Cloud generates based on your serial number. That way, you don’t have to remember that long name, and you can update your CNAME record whenever you replace a device.

right!

Hi,

i looking for that due to if i not mistaken, mikrotik vpn now can with domain beside the ip based.
in this cause, i can make use the ip cloud for the vpn tunner, but the challenge is if the vpn master gone, then i will in trouble.

More features will be added in the Cloud menu in future.
Thanks for your input.

angboontiong,

I use IP Cloud for VPN now; it works perfectly.

Let’s say you currently own the domain name angboontiong.com. Create a new CNAME record for vpn.angboontiong.com and point it at the the name that the DNS game generated in IP Cloud. That way, vpn.angboontiong.com will always point at the correct location, since it ultimately points to the name generated by IP Cloud.

Down the road, if you replace your device, just update your CNAME to point to the new name generated by IP Cloud.

If you need help creating a CNAME record, you’ll want to reach out to the company that manages your DNS for your domain.

Does anyone know how one can use the IP CLOUD feature in a site-to-site VPN peer? The IPSEC Policy (and peering) configuration in RouterOS only lets you enter an IP address, not a DNS name.
