ip hotspot loggin page does not automatically redirect??

i have set up an hotspot on an rb433 running routeros 3.28.
now when i connect a wireless client and go to http://google.com it brings up 192.168.30.1 (the hotspot ip) and displays the loggin page
after entering the user name and clicking ok the browser just status says “waiting for 192.168.30.1” and nothing happens. when i manually refresh the page it says that i am logged in. also browsing works fine.

i have tryed resetting the html files

any idea where to start looking for the problem?

Which browser do you use ?
Do you have properly working DNS servers in /ip dns (both server) ?

im using firefox

ok when i use open dns as dns servers it does not work, but if i use my gateway dns it works
would it be posible to use open dns and not use the gateways as dns servers? because i have 4 different gateway that are not mine and i cant change the dns on those routers

Same issue here, using RG450G, hotspot, upgraded from 3.27 due to using HWMP +. Since then, users need to press twice OK button until getting redirected to page. Log file tells , user already authenticated.

All was working fine on v3.27! Bug? Again, I have not made any changes on hotspot setup since upgrade to 3.28, only HWMP settings have been amended.

Cheers

now that you mentioned it, the problems started after i upgraded to 3.28 so that might really be a bug…

i upgraded to version 4.? beta, works like a charm…

that’s not an option for me as it is a live network. Does MT offer a bug fix for that?

Cheers

You both have default configuration for HotSpot ?
Do you use default login page ?

Please, let us know, so we will start to make the similar configuration. As we are running local HotSpot, but it seems login page there does not brig issues, when you need to refresh or anything else.

Yes, default configuration on Hotspot, modified HTML login page, actually only an addtional picture gets loaded, the login page script has not changed.

interesting you are saying that you do not experience the issue…?~

Thanks

m

compleatet default config +open dns

Is it possible that somehow the way OpenDNS doesn’t serve NXDOMAINs by default is causing this? Have you tried signing up for an account with OpenDNS and re-enabling NXDOMAINs for that IP address? Does the problem still occur?

Felix

I’m having the very same problem on a hotspot that I have on a rb433, and I’m also using OpenDNS. However, I have other hotspots that I’m running on RB411’s and OpenDNS that are fine. The only difference is that I’m using RouterOS 3.28 on the rb433, and I haven’t upgraded the RB411’s yet (they are both running 3.11, if memory serves me right).

It’s confusing, because when it hangs if you start surfing, you are on your way. But - the average user will be horribly confused. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

PS - I do have a custom login page, but I have tried reverting it to default without any luck.

I upgraded my rb433 to RouterOS v4 Beta and it solved the issue.

Any update on this bug with Hotspot 3.28 ?
I have the same problem, refere to
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/upgrade-hotspot-3-23-3-28-login-broken/31379/1

Bug shows up in IE and firefox. chrome I did not try.

Having same problem - no solution in Forum - so I filed bug report.

I had same problem, finally i reset the box, reconfigured all, and all is working welll after that. For others reset might not be easy !

Interesting … I did a fresh, clean install of 3.28 on a test-PC, and still have the bug. So, in case you do NOT have the problem, it looks like some speciality in the configuration. May be, you can post your config ?

Tried a fresh install of 3.30 now. Redirect from login-page still does not work, only after pressing “Refresh” button of browser.
I guess, some problem with my setup.
I first configured the 2 interfaces, installed PPPoE-client, DNS-server, DHCP, NTP-server, NAT and default gateway, so I could access the internet from client directly thru the MT-box without any problem.
Then I installed hotspot. Login-page shows up on browser, but after login it remains in “Waiting for 192.168.1.1” (default gateway, MT-box). Pressing “Refresh” in the browser, and I can acess the web.
Any ideas ???
Got in touch with MT-support already some time ago, no real help from them. A bit annoying …

Is there any detailed instruction, how to set up the default hotspot correctly ?
Fortunately, I still have the production hotspot running under 3.23, but want to upgrade.

Stay tuned. Still working on it.
