Is there an option (or can there be in future builds), to bind a username/password to a MAC address and IP for a hotspot?
We have a 3rd party radius server for our hotspot. All users have a username and password to login to the service. I would like to be able to bind certain user’s mac addresses to an IP but also bind their username/password to that MAC as well so it always logs them into the hotspot service as long as they have a credited account. If they don’t have credits for their account it would simply deny access.
I wish I was able to tie a few MAC addresses to a certain user account in Radius but it’s just not an option right now.
I was hoping and thinking it would be a good idea for Mikrotik for a future release to add to the overall manageability over the hotspot.
Allowing a MAC to simply bypass is nice, but it would be nicer to bind that MAC to a username as well so they are not 100% bypassed without knowing if they have a credited account.
My suggestion: Blocked bindings should be blocked, Regular should allow a username/password to tie the MAC, and Bypassed should be 100% bypassed.
Sorry I’m just responding to this now, but I’m not familiar enough with Radius to be able to make changes like that. We have a 3rd party software and I only configure it within it’s available abilities.
I wish the software had more abilities but it still does a good job. I just wanted to make a suggestion for a new feature in Mikrotik.
thanks.
