Topic: Mikrotik IP Packing
Note - sorry for the double post. I originally posted this in the wireless section of this forum and nobody replied , so I thought I would post it here where it should really be posted.
IP Packing (Mikrotik ROS IP Packing - compression) — Packet compression (IP Packing) between Mikrotik devices
Is anybody using the Mikrotik IP Packing settings in/on their wlans and/or ethernet and/or on bridges ?
- does it actually work ?
- what level of IP Packing works best (simple , compress all , compress headers , none ) ?
- on an AP with many clients , how well does IP Packing work ?
- on an AP with many clients , does it actually improve throughput to connected clients ?
- on an AP wireless link , does it work for 802.11 and/or nstream and/or nv2 ?
- Any advantages for a WISP (especially a WISP using nv2) ?
- What problems have been encountered with IP Packing ?
- Is there any way to see on an AP what clients have IP Packing running ?
I am looking for any ideas to get more throughput between the AP and clients ( especially on busy nv2 wireless networks ).
EDIT - another question - Is this a Layer 2 thing (L2) or a Layer 2 thing (L3) or both or something else ?
