IP passthrough

Hello, this may be a easy question, we got fiber dropped off the other day, they told us that we need one router as our gateway 25.222.15.146/29, our main router has a ip of 25.222.15.121/29 and a server with 25.222.15.122/29. what is the best way to set up up the gateway router just pass to 121 and 122? the gateway router will just be used for that only!

You can change your main router ip addres to use the gateway ip which is 25.222.15.146/29, and point everything else including your server to ip that ip address as a gateway.

have done that but when we do a whats my ip 25.222.15.146/29 and not 25.222.15.121/29

That is correct. You use your gateway IP on your main router, you don’t need to add another router just for this. Moreover you can reuse the ip 25.222.15.121 somewhere else.

that is fine, but we need to be able to get to the 25.222.15.121/29 router and set up port forwarding to two other server useing the 25.222.15.121/29.

25.222.15.146/29 (edge router/gateway) ------------------------- 25.222.15.121/29(rack router) -----------------email (192.168.1.20
| |-----------------web (192.168.1.28)
|-------------------------25.222.15.122/29(server)

i have a feeling that nat or something is doing something bc when we do what my ip we get 15.146/29 and not the 15.121/29 ip. we can ping the 15.121/29 ip
