I can scan multiple networks from one interface on a separate network.
This can’t be right? Please see attachment

If you look at the traffic it will show on ether2 not ether4. If the interface and IP address are in conflict it seems to go with the IP address.
Yes, I am aware that I will see only see traffic on the interface that there is actually traffic on. What worries me is that I am able to scan networks on multiple interfaces which they have not been yet assigned. Kind of defeats the purpose of a IP scanner.
when you use ‘/ip scan’ use either intarface or address range as described in user manual on the wiki.mikrotik·com
if you use both results may not be usable as you can see. Tool is not intended for use with both fields filled.
I want to determine the address connected to a particular interface. I have bridged ether1 and ether2, when I scan only for the interface as instructed by you the tool detects no IP addresses. At the moment only ether2 is connected, scanned ether1, ether2 and scanned the bridge. No output
it is a passive scan - router has to see packets flowing, like broadcasts or any other traffic that contains IP addresses. If host is completely silent scan will not see it.
Thank you, understood. Now get mikrotik to implement a feature that detects live host on a network ![]()
Unless there is, and I’m unaware.
live host - sends data, if scanning interface/router sees it - it will be reported.
Since RouterOS v5.xx i get this error message when I scan more than 1500 addresses. In RouterOS 6.xx I cannot scan more than 500 addresses until this error message show up. It is the same issue from a terminal.
With v4.17 I could scan 64 000 addresses without any problems.
