IPSec Hardware Acceleration on RB800?

Hi,
I wrote this in the RouterOS Community Support [General] section but I guess it is more appropriate here. I was unable to move the thread so I reposted it here and removed the old one.

I was going through the specs on the RB800 and on the CPU in it (MPC8544E)
To my surprise the Freescale site reported that the MPC8544 should have

Integrated security engine supporting DES, 3DES, MD-5, SHA-1/2, AES, RSA, RNG, Kasumi F8/F9 and ARC-4 encryption algorithms (MPC8544E)

When I saw this I checked the CPU spec on the RB1000. From what I found out on the routerboard.com website it uses the MPC8547E CPU. And it also have it. And we know that it have Hardware Acceleration in the CPU.

Integrated security engine supporting DES, 3DES, MD-5, SHA-1/2, AES, RSA, RNG, Kasumi F8/F9 and ARC-4 encryption algorithms.

My question to MikroTik is this true and just a software restriction? Or have I gotten this completely wrong?
If true and it is just a software restriction can it be activated?

There are two variants of this CPU, with and without encryption. The RB800 has the CPU which doesn’t have encryption engine. It doesn’t have MPC8544E, it has MPC8544 (no E)

Hi Normis,

I did never see the model without the (E) on there webpage, perhaps not listed either
But that will explain the lack support. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the explanation.

Have a nice summer!
