Hi all, I’m not looking for configuration details, I just want to know what is and isn’t possible with routeros and networking in general. I hope someone can help.
I currently run a wireless ISP, and have recently begun installing IPTV. At the moment I do not install the IPTV for my wireless customers. I do not control the IPTV backend servers.
What I would like to know is, is it possible to multicast this external IPTV feed into my current setup so that I can supply my wireless customers with IPTV? Or does the stream need to originate from inside my network? i.e. do I need to build a VLC server somewhere on my network, have this connected to each channel(17 channels) and then redistribute the streams?
Hi, it’s in bridging mode up until the users home router which nats, does it need to be in routing mode on the CPE? Do I need to use PPPOE in routing mode?
“will you connect some l3 setop box after CPE to convert multicast stream to TV or live TV only.”
Yes
In bridging mode once you enable multicast stream on Base it will automatically start pushing traffic on all WDS which results in High latency.
Ok, my Access points are not in WDS, just regular bridge mode, from my mikrotik router through to my customer WAN interface on the home router is all on one subnet.
need some more clarity on your existing setup .
So if multicasting is enabled at the head end router, does it push this signal to all my CPE’s?
