IPv6 settings for someone who doesn't use IPv6

Hello, I am absolutely ignorant on all IPv6 stuff. I have no use of IPv6. All my devices use IPv4 and I have an IPv4 from my ISP. Should I change the default configuration of Router OS or keep it as-is ? I have disabled IPv6, does it have side-effects ?…

Hi,

I have it disabled in my routers all time and see no problems.

Does your ISP give you IPv6 connectivity? If they do, I suggest you just check out that you are running an IPv6 firewall.

Yes, for sure check if the IPv6 firewall is populated. It isn’t when you have upgraded your router from way in the past. When it was bought with RouterOS v7 it is probably OK.

When your provider does not give IPv6 yet, it may be prudent to disable IPv6 (in the settings) so you will not encounter a surprise when they start offering IPv6. You can enable it at a convenient time when you are then aware of it and can handle possible issues.
