Hi, I have been trying to use an IPv6 address as the connection address when configuring an L2TP-Client interface but it gets reported as being an invalid address by winbox.
I tried a number of other clients, SSTP, PPTP etc. and none of them will accept an IP6 address.
I’ve got the IPv6 package installed and running, is the problem that Mikrotik don’t support IPv6 on these interfaces yet?
Is this something that is planned to be done, it’s going to be difficult implementing IPv6 without this type of thing being supported. If you have any timescales that would be helpful.
I would like to bump this. As IPv6 is being deployed more and more (some networks even IPv6 only with IPv4 over dual-stack lite) this is an absolutely essential feature of a router.
I have ipv6 working over pptp, and have had it working for over a year. Also with ospfv3. I use it for a site to site VPN. Would you like an overview of the configuration? Is it ipsec that does not support ipv6? I have not used ipsec yet, but I am planning to. I will follow this thread. Tony.
There is a problem that you cannot create connection to L2TP server over IPv6 address. After connecting, endpoint gets IPv6 address and traffic over IPv6 is working without problems.
We are still waiting.
I have to remind you ripe stopped distributing ipv4 addresses so, we do not want to change our Mikrotik routers only for this ipv6 short comings
