Hello, I am new at setting up Mikrotik’s. My internet provider allows an IPv6 address without a PPPoE connection which I would like to have my Mikrotik (RB750Gr2) pass on to the computers connected to it. Can someone explain if this is possible and how to do it if it is? I have looked all over and have found no good sites for this.
is your ISP providing prefix for customers with routers. as you need /64 (for SLAAC) prefix for this to work with the router in the middle.
You need to look for documentation from your provider to find what method they use for IPv6 address and prefix allocation.
When only SLAAC as mentioned by janisk you are going to have a problem…
But a good ISP supports DHCPv6-PD or static address configuration and then you can configure that on your router.
Thanks for the quick responses. Sorry that I do not know much about this stuff. When I plug my computer directly into the line, I can pull an IPv6 address automatically. All I want is the Mikrotik to allow the IPv traffic through.
That is what I mean with “you have a problem”. That is not how IPv6 works.
You need to know how to get an additional address for your inside network, either fixed or via some dynamic
method. Ask your provider.
