Is DHCP on VLANs Broken in 6.38.5 ??

Any one else having probes with DHCP on VLANS in version 6.38.5 ? This has worked fine for years but recently upgraded from 6.35 to 6.38.5 and now I cannot get DHCP IP Addresses over VLANs ?

CPE (DHCP Client) <> AP (Bridged) <> Tower Router (DHCP Server)
VLAN 42 is used for Management and Tower Router assigns DHCP-IP to the CPE over VLAN 42.
CPE Also does PPPOE to the Tower Router for client traffic and that works fine.

However since upgrading to 6.38.5 ONLY on the Tower router (nothing else has changed) the CPE cannot get an IP. I see the Discovery and offer in the Offer in the Tower Router logs but the CPE does not receive the offer. Packet sniffer confirms that the offer does not reach the AP let alone the CPE. BUT it appears to leave the Router interface according to the Sniffer. The switch in between is a Netonix WispSwitch but again nothing has changed there.

Any thoughts?

I’m using multiple VLANs in 2 locations configured both to a CPE over a Ubnt link and as router on a stick setups working just fine on 6.38.5. 1 of the devices is a hAP AC lite and the other is a hEX r3.

It’s possible you’re getting bitten by the RSTP change. Do you have spanning tree enabled? If so you may need to do some reworking to get the devices sorted as others have noted.

I think there is too.. I’m having a DHCP issues.
I had a power outage on my DYNADISH(doing local DHCP to eth->VLAN) and now with dhcp ‘offering’ but devices are not accepting..
It was all working before the power outage… Config has not changed..

Bingo!. I forgot about seeing that in the release notes…

Cheers Mate!

Killer take a look at RSTP. It’s likely that’s the cause. RSTP works the behavior was changed to be more compliant to the RFC. That said if one is speaking the old method and the other is an upgraded unit you may have some links in a bad state.

No problem Zod. I’m glad it’s all working for you!
