Is dude working fast?

Hello,
Can you share about your expierence with dude. Do it lags for you and, how many hosts/probes do you have? And what hardware do you use? Is dude responsive/fast?

I am running dude on Pentium D pc, on routerOS.
I monitor 600+ device network, it has 620+ probes (many devices only has ping probe).
The probe interval is 15s, label refresh interval is 15s. Database exported size is about 240MiB.

The dude is not very responsive. When i create new device, before pressing discover button, i have to wait about 3-5 seconds. After pressing ok/apply, i have to wait for 2-3 seconds before the window closes.
So i am blaming this on slow hdd: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/can-hdd-bottleneck-dude-server/27620/1
I have tried to use “Delayed flush to disk” option, but it is unstable.

I still force the dude server to real time priority. It helps significantly when you bump into the 4.2g snmp bug. I can also tell that the client is much more responsive. YMMV.

Real time priority? Is it under windows?
No one else wants to share about their expierences with dude? Or nobody is using it?

If you go get sysinternals process monitor for windows yes you can force the service to real time just after it starts and this helps with responsiveness. I am not sure what others are doing. I have about 300 probes and 150 devices…

bump, anyone else?

we are at the moment, & as far as “fast”?

in what context? are you looking to compare this to another NMS?

i can only reply no at the moment, unless you don’t factor in the time it takes to restart the server & hope your devices are there that might or might not have been before
