Hi All, there is no exact answer available to this question.
Is it OK to configure more APs on one tower or in one town with the same SSID to allow users to connect to the most suitable AP? The ahthorisation can be done using Radius MAC authorization.
Do you know about some problems using this configuration?
And what about hots-spots, there are the same ssid names standardly on all hot-spots. Is it the same problem?
I think that if I had my network to do over again I would do all of the same SSID in one town/tower and make sure everyone was using dhcp. I think this is likely the best scenerio from a scalability and redundancy standpoint.
The problem will arise, when one CPE see two access point (with the same SSID) with almost the same signal level. This can make the client connected to one and then move to the other one, back and forth.
You can use “connect-list” parameter in wireless menu (works just like access-list but in the opposite direction), so you can restrict CPE from connecting to any AP except the one with MAC address you specify in the connect-list
