Is it possible to make RouterOS reset settings to standard, by cutting the power for x amount of time?

Hello,

I recently got myself a ATL 5G R16 outdoor antenna with RouterOS on. I have this device mounted very high up, that is not easily accessed. Not only is it hard to get up there, it is also dangerous.

But what if I need to make a Reset, Power on - press and hold Reset button 5 sec. I'd have to climb all the way up there.

So I was wondering if there perhaps was another way?
Like activate the Reset procedure IF Unsafe Power Out (cut the power) AND waiting to Power on for x amount of minutes.

Or is there any other way to Reset the Router OS, if you cannot connect to it for some reason (most like me doing something that breaks it), so I can avoid killing myself from nasty fall.

recently i found another brand put the reset button on their PoE. perhaps MikroTik team can do observe and put this on the PoE products.

The SAFE MODE button/mode has been around for decades.
There are tools to avoid this, you just have to use them.

I don't think that photo in this post is a PoE injector. That looks like a NanoStation M2 radio.

However those did have remote factory reset via a reset button on the power injector.

Exactly, that is the point. i do not want the expose the exact brand that already implement it.

that reset button is not for power cycle, but to do factory reset of the hardware / radio connected to it. Perhaps MikroTik can do this too.

Inadvertent resets of these devices happen all the time when there's work on the power line.

The idea of ​​resetting using a patched cable, or using the PoE button, isn't so bad...

But already, if the chip has enough memory, you can create two partitions,
so that when you power down and power up, RouterBOOT will do the trick...

The probabiluty that works on electric line will produce (say) a:

Then it would become like the reset button on MikroTik devices...
you would need a specific device that gives/removes power...
Maybe a script, or a button itself on winbox, would start the sequence in a PoE switch... :wink:

Yep, I would guess that making one with an ESP32 or similar and a relay shouldn't be that difficult, a manufactured device sold for (say) 40-50 bucks would IMHO sell like hotcakes to people managing outdoor devices mounted on difficult to reach places (poles/antennas/roofs/etc.

@BartoszP That is also a great feature that I've used, but if something (most likely me) softbricked the device. I think perhaps Safe Mode will save me 90% of the time.

But I would definitely like a feature or device that would make it possible to trigger the Reset button remotely.
