On every single router I connect to, on my first connection my first steps are always..
Settings - Inline Comments
Settings - Hide Passwords
Dashboard - Add Time
Dashboard - Add Date
Dashboard - Add CPU
Dashboard - Add Memory
Dashboard - Add Uptime
Is there a way to set these as default for any new session? Does WinBox check for a default .viw file perhaps?
Open the device with winbox,
set settings as wanted,
on Session menù select “save as…” for save current session with wanted settings,
close all winbox windows,
open winbox and select on tools advanced mode (if not already selected)
and search with the “browse” button the saved session.
You are describing to not use 'Own' session then..
With Own… each device has his… own…
With default you can use one as default for all.
P.S.: do not set “autosave session” or default will be owerwrited…
Rextended, you are missing the point here. What OP is asking is a session settings that are used to bootstrap new sessions when you connect to some box for the very first time. Indeed, that would be a nice to have feature.
And I explain what exactly you write… My english is not well, but you do not understand.
Select generated “default” on dropdown menu the first time you load the device…
Doing this will break the customized sessions.. I only want to start every 'new' session with what I entered above. After connecting I expect customize the session as I desire and restore when re-connecting.
Set as the default. Not set as the only session I use.
It it my opinion though that the 'Dashboard' options should always be shown in WinBox, we shouldn't need to enable them.. I wonder what rationale is in not always showing the data as part of the WinBox application, completely removing the 'Dashboard' drop-down menu..
That’s exactly what you are asking for: you load the default session first, then save it as another one intended for this particular device.

Is there a way to set these as default for any new session? NO, for you, if your are a programmer(*), you already have solved that...
Does WinBox check for a default .viw file perhaps? NO, but I have suggested to you one alternative way to do that on first time.
(*) not language-specific, just solve problem whit what already we have available...
