Is RB Metal2-SHPn very cheaper than RB 711UA-2HnD ?

I have some AP built with RB 711UA-2HnD.
A Ap is broken and I replaced it with an RB Metal2-SHPn.
The signal emitted by RB Metal2-SHPn is much weaker.
I have also tried to replace the RB Metal2-SHPn with a new but it doesn’t change.

Why?
Should not be stronger considering that RB Metal2-SHPn has a power of 31 dBm while RB 711UA-2HnD has a power of up to 27 dBm?

Thanks

It should be a lot stronger because Rb711 also loose some power in the pigtails.

Ok, and as I can resolve?

can there be some parameter to modify?

The Antenna gain is also to 0 dBi as in the RB711…

Thanks

I’m really disappointed by these Metal2-SHPn.
I’ve changed one with a RB951UI-2HND and this works much better!
Maybe something wrong in the configuration?
Perhaps Metal2-SHPn is an obsolete product?

Thanks

applying the correct confguration can do wonders, read this experience with the same product:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/2-4ghz-metal-radio-blown-after-30-secs-of-traffic/68853/3

Ok well, I’m applying this configuration (model 2)

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Wireless_WDS_Mesh

Do you think it works for RB Metal2-SHPn ?
Thanks

like wirelessrudy suggested in the other topic, make a “/interface wireless reset-configuration”, then start from the beginning, if still have problems, paste both end wireless export outputs here

I HAVE ALREADY DONE: system reset-configuration skip-backup=yes no-defaults=yes, BUT DOES NOT WORK.

I have attached the file .rsc of the RB connected in LAN.

The other RB are configured identically, only changes the IP address, can’ t reach them with telnet…

Thanks

2SHPN_MeshModel2_bridge_interface_CAMPING1.rsc (15.5 KB)

Start by upgrading to RouterOS v6.2, you are using an old version. v6 has new drivers, new kernel, new wireless functionality etc.

Ok but the configuration is correct?

For example: when I try to connect to a RB that I see in the table neighbors this error appears :
Trying 10.5.50.93…
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host

What does it mean?

Thanks

can you ping or mac-ping that device?

No, I see the RB D4:CA:6D:7B:08:BF in Scanner of wlan1

I see The RB in Neighbor Table ( IP: 10.5.50.93 )

Ping: Host: 10.5.50.1 / Time: 0ms / Reply Size: 78 / TTL:64 / Status: redirect host
Host: 10.5.50.93 / Time: timeout / Status: timeout

Mac Ping: To: D4:CA:6D:7B:08:BF : Time: timeou / Status: timeout

What can I do?

Thanks

contact support@mikrotik.com with support file attached - make sure you are upgraded to v6.2

Hi,

I contacted the support. But I had a configuration problem and advised me to install Netinstall.

I installed Netinstall on a notebook.
On the ethernet port of the notebook I connected the Metal 2SHPN
In the USB port of noteb I inserted a flash memory

Launch the program netinstall.exe and find the removable media Label E:
The notebook has ip 192.168.27.6 \ netmask: 255.255.255.0 \ Gateway:
192.167.27.1
How to address Net booting I put 192.168.27.5

In the Packages \ From field, with Browse, I select the file :
routeros-mipsbe-6.2.npk but he does not see in the box below

If I press Insall this alert appears: No Select Packages

What can I do?

Thanks

First select the router, only then select browse for packages. In this order.

but even before that, you must start the Metal with the button pressed, to launch Netinstall boot mode. Then do the above, in mentioned order.

Worked!

Thank you very much

Hi,
can you help me for the problem WDS-MESH?
I wrote to support but I did not respond, unfortunately, is a pressing issue …
The last thing I wrote was this :

since you are using the IP address on the bridge interface, we suggest to
lock the
MAC address to the wireless or ethernet interface that is added to the
bridge
ports.

Could you make a diagram and send it to us and also the support output
files from
both routers?
Also we recommend to add WDS interfaces into the bridge port statically
and not
dynamic to avoid wds flood.

I tried to run the command:

interface bridge set bridge1 auto-mac=no admin-mac=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

and it works, the interface bridge1 assumes the MAC of interfaces wlan1 but
I lose the ability to connect via the IP
of interface ether1 .

This is necessary because the RB are connected to an ethernet port of a
TB1100 ( with IP 10.5.50.1 ) while WinBox is installed
on a lan 192.168.27.x to one other port of RB110 ( with IP 192.168.27.181 )

How can I fix?

Thanks

Hi,
have gone ahead..
I would like to set, as recommended, wds connection manually and not automatically.

I know the MAC address of RB that are connected.

The field WDS mode I must put in static?

Thanks
