Can anyone tell me if the RB1000 in its enclosure with both fans going is noisy?
I’m looking for something like this for an office, where the kind of whistly-whine these things can make would become a nuisance after while, so something with a faster CPU that wouldn’t be working so hard in an airier, better-ventilated case might be more quiet.
But if it isn’t a problem the RB1000 would do well.
No. The second fan is a backup fan. So it’s not loud.
I love it. It boots in seconds is realy fast and runs
since the first day without a single issue.
I concur. It’s quiet, and I don’t think we’ve ever had the second fan kick on. Of course, it’s also in an air-conditioned facility. And I haven’t timed it precisely, but I want to say that our RB1000 is fully booted from power-on in about 5 seconds. The 1.3GHz PPC is an absolute screamer performance-wise.
The only thing that’d make it better is a MiniPCI slot or two.
