Is there a guide on which models are suitable for what purpose?

It seems like Mikrotik’s product offerings are all over the place. Is there some sort of guide on which models of routers are suitable/designed for a given purpose? LIke, “this model is targeted at the SOHO market with up to x client devices and a connection speed of y” kind of thing.

Not really but you can ask here but be sure to state your requirements and use cases for traffic and also ISP information. etc.

Thanks, it’s more of an idle curiosity question. I was looking at the lineup and was trying to make sense at the use cases each router is targeted to.

Much better and fruitful ways to spend your time LOL

There are clues, for example RB vs CCR vs CRS, while the ‘c h m w’ codes suggest a use or location and lite is less, but there is no straightforward system to it. You could read this: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/ROS/pages/17498146/Product+Naming
There is also quite a lot of useful information to be gleaned from the specifications and performance data, more revealing than for some other manufacturers. Nominate a problem or scenario, get a flurry of slightly divergent answers, pick something.

The more detailed the requirements the more accurate the answer!!
