RouterOS Beginner Basics

I’m coming from Tomato and DDWRT firmware routers, where the lingo is much easier to understand. I’ve managed to setup the rb2011 with the settings available in QuickSet, through the web interface. That’s about the only place where I know what the settings do. I have it updated to 6.6. I really like how easy it is to update.

Anyway, I plan to get another one to act as a Wireless Bridged Repeater:
Router #1 connects to the modem to provide an internet connection.
Router #2 connects wirelessly to #1. #2 can then provide an internet connection for its LAN ports (acts as a wireless card for several devices). At the same time, repeat the signal for further range.

So if anyone can help me out with that, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

There is a learning curve for these devices. You need to do a lot of reading because all you’ve get here is pasted commands that you won’t understand.

The documentation describes console commands, but the Webfig menus are organized mostly in the same manner. For example in console the menu “/ip firewall filter” is located in “IP → FIREWALL → FILTER” in Webfig.
