is there any other way to configure point to point link

hi
i am configuring a point to point link ,i configured it as
mode = bridge(411ah board)
freq= 5200
wds enabled = dynamic
is there any other way to configure the point to point link for best performance.
if i configure wds =sataic
then what should i do?

configure one point as bridge and the other point as station.
assign an /30 subnet to the link and you an ping between them

thanks for reply

and i want to know what is best routing or bridging
how to do routing (simple)
is it correct mode=bridge
freq =5200
ssid =abc
and now after creating wds ,wds is static
how to add address on both side

plz guide me

with best regard from suraj

the better is not possible to say, because it depend on the application.
if you have a simple installation, bridge could be better but coud be better routing in case of any requirements.
post a design and describe what you want to do and we can help you.

+1 to above

hello rodolfo
this is our network setup
link-server(linux)-450g(firewall only)-switch-and all radio and p2p connected to that switch.
server ip is xxx.xx.xxx.xx and the internal ip is 10.xxx.x.1,and all client ip start from 10.xxx.x.2 to 254.
all radio is configured as access point and client connect to the access point through static internal ip (10.xxx.x.2)
and all radio ip is 192.xxx.1.50 to 70 range.
and all p2p configured in bridge mode with dynamic wds.

now i want to configure all p2p link in routing mode so kindly help me in right direction.

how to configure the new p2p via static routing or through routing protocol.

plz help

my advice is to use ospf:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:OSPF-examples

suppose you have some sites of installation.
each site have one switch; the switch connect p2p, pmp, and other servers.
in each site, all eth connected to the switch have a subnet /24; each radio link p2p have a /30.
then you activate ospf and you can ping, telnet or winbox each router from each other.

to your first question:

  • you must use a frequency notused by a neighbour radio
  • in a p2p one point is station and the other is bridge
  • wds is disabled
  • use nstream protocol

hello rodolfo thanks for your reply ,
i have no idea abuout ospf but i will try this.
can i configure the default routing on two mikrotik 411 board with r52h wireless card and 24dbi anteea grid the didtance is approx 4 to 5 km (is this far to much ).

and also one thing can i enable nstreme on it (is there need of any other hardware setup)

i have to do this on production network so i have to do very carefully. you can understand the technical guy responsiblity.
so do you have any idea about defaul routing in two mikrotik p2p using static routing …

my answer could not be complete.
i need a design of your network.

  1. using r52h ad 24dbi anenna you can cover a distance of 20km in LOS
  2. nstream must be enabled: it guarantees higher speed, lower latency
  3. you can configure the default gateway

hello rodolfo
here is my network diagram

kindly
tell me the step by step proces how to configure the static routing.

and how to enable nstreme on the router.you can send me code to how enable between routers

and how to enable ospf link between two router??? :frowning:
and also want to maintain one thing does ntreme require two wireless card on one router ??/

hello rodolfo
thanks
but i did not get my answer yet .
side a
ip to ether 192.168.1.70/24
created bridge and bidged to ether and bridge to wlan.
ssid 123
freq 5180
and apply ok
then add route to gateway of remote side example 192.168.1.71.

is that correct configuration or not
or i have to assign ip for wlan too at both end.

kidly have a look over that i am submitting the jpeg image of my network diagram
