Hi all,
I have a RB3011 routerboard which stuck with “ether boot” while reset and on top of that ether1, ether6, ether7, ether8, ether9, ether10 ports are not working is there any way that i can install routerOS using netinstall from ether2? Please guide me with this routerboard.
Sadly no, there is no way to do this as RB3011 routerboot (bios/bootloader) just doesn’t support it.
I had same problem with RB600 and RB800 and there I solved it by booting from CF card… but RB3011 doesn’t have CF or any other boot option so you are out of luck.
Only way I see this may be possible is to either repair the LAN ports or desolder flash memory, put it into other RB3011 board with working ports, netinstall it, then solder it back.
It may also be possible to use flash programmer to clone some parts of the filesystem from another working unit, but you must be very careful as license data is mixed with nand partitions and other blocks. Always make a full flash memory backup before doing anything.
Enter with serial RJ45 to the bios,
reload the bios http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/ipq8060_3.41.fwf
after that reset to default the bios, do not format the flash or you lost the license and any possibility to restore the device if ether1 is broken
if is only a bois problem the device restart.
If do not start because the software on flash are damaged, try to repartition (by bios serial port) from 1 to 2 partition,
after reboot from 2 to 1 again,
this rewrite the boot code on partition.
If also on this way do not reboot, try to set on bios the etherboot,
some device can boot from another ethernet, but must be on same switch chip (port 1-5 on this device)
if you are sure if the switch chip is not damaged…
on alternative try port ether6 or sfp1
