Is there anyway to sniff RSTP traffic?

Anyone know if there is anyway to sniff RSPT traffic between bridges?

Thanks,
Chadd

Anybody?

I am trying to track down some odd RSTP issues and need to be able to check traffic going back and forth to find out if I have a Rogue RSTP bridge that I don’t know about.

I have tried using the packet sniffer built into MT but i never seen to catch any RSTP traffic, is there a trick to catching it with the sniffer?

Thanks,
Chadd

Put switch with port mirroring between two bridges and you’ll be able to sniff whole trafic.

HTH,

I wish I could but it is a wireless RSTP/WDS mesh portion of our network I am trying to sniff it on. So there aren’t any switches between the bridges. I should be able to see RSTP traffic with the MT sniffer though shouldn’t I?

Thanks,
Chadd

In ‘Bridge/Filter’ settings is option to log ‘config’ and ‘TCN’ massages (STP-Type parameter),
as described here: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/Bridge#Properties_2
