is this true?? 30 kms with SXT??

hello,

as per the slideshow on the following page the users seems to have a 30 kms link set with a SXT

http://www.slideshare.net/wichets/solution-wireless-link-15-30-km-speed-200-mbps-mikrotik-rb-sxt-g2hnd-rb-sxt-g2hnd-complete-set

please have a look…

Looks like advertisement material. Not as description of real situation.

30 Km is not possible.

Maybe using a parabolic reflector.

This sort of advertising is very misleading, I could advertise something like “Installed is 1000Megabit speed equipment” which refers to ether port only and no mention of actual wireless speed, this advertising and as long as what is mentioned is correct is allowed but customers need to have all of the operational information before they can make a informed decision before purchase.

Some did a stable 304 km on 5.7GHz using parabolic antennas…
Don’t just throw a “not possible” in on a belief base only.

It is possible, but it’s not a good idea.
Signal would be somewhere around -80dBm and we all know how bad that is.
Specs of SXT Lite5 > http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/SXT-Lite5.pdf

It is not possible to have a stable link.
The signal is too little so there will be something to weather influence the link will fall away.
Bad idee

A connection at 30 Kms is possible but what is omitted from the advertising is the actual data transfer (if any?) at this distance.

This seems to be a ping pong game, yes, now yes now …

The point is that it wouldn’t be stable enough for anything serious
(notice that the calculation is done with tx-power and rx-sensitivity for the lowest modulation of MCS0).

The antenna gain (16dBi) is just too small for 30km link.
For something truly usable and stable with reasonable throughput at that kind of distance
one would need a pair of 28dBi antennas.

p.s. Yes, I would call it “false advertising”

Strictly it is not “false advertising” as the advert is not false, a connection at 30Kms can be made but that is about all, forget about data transfer or signal fade

A 30 km link with these devices are not usable.
Otherwise it makes no sense.

guys…

check this video,

26 kms… if i am right…

I have tested a 28 km link n it works but not stable. with 27 dbi dishes it is cool.

Are you saying about SXT?

sounds like portugal, spanish or some similar language. When pointing at the mountain, he is saying “seis-siete” kms surely not saying “veintysiete” or so. For me it means 6-7 kms. And second, none knows what is on the other end… so, not proof of 30 kms link at all.

yes with the sxt …I tweaked them later on with own set of 27 dbi antenna.
