Is Using "T" connector an option?

I can pickup signal from my tower on the mountain on 2.4ghz and would like to setup using wds/mesh and repeat the signal to the neighborhood.

The signal is sent from the mountain to the house and then back in the direction of the mountain but to the lower area were the mountain can not see.

Using an omni antani and the wds does not work very well but a directional works very well.

So is it an option to place an omni and a directional on the same radio connector? Omni for talking to the the other clients and the directional pointing to the mountain?

Regards,
Michael

I’ve actually wondered this myself. I would imagine it would work. Your signal power gets cut in half when you use a 2-way splitter (IFAIK).

I’m sure the cleanest thing to do is break down and bridge 2 radios, each on its own antanna.

My thoughts were to use 2.4ghz channel 6 (the middle frequency). At the top of the poll place an 9db omni and below that a directional pointing to the tower on the mountain.

The Radio is setup as wds slave (I think), Which allows clients to connect to the highest signal level. So if it’s off the omni it would be the same as if they could see the mountain tower.

It woould be one radio two antanni and the radio as close to the antani as posislbe like 3 feet or less.

Now if this could be done using two radio’s i don’t know? But how could you have a second radio card and be able to access the ppoe server, and hotspot services? I realy didn’t want to use another ssid nor setup more hotspot/ppoe services.

Basicly what I’m wanting is a dumb repeater… To cover the underside of the hill that the mountain tower can not see.

I’m not an expert but I think you can use two radios, one static wds by intering the mac address of your remote AP,and then bridge it with the second card and configure it with the same ssid. so your backhaul interface will connect only with the far AP because you specified its MAC address only and it will work as a dumb repeater

I hope I’m right

yea just use two radios…so much better in the long run and really only the cost of the 2nd radio would apply $50-100…
